Due to the high demand of heavy traffic in the port of Colima, Constructora Integral de Colima was looking to improve its pavements through a durable and innovative solution in which the road would not be affected by wear, cracks and demanding container loads.
The port of Colima is one of the most important and oldest in Mexico. Daily activity are a challenge as the port cannot stop or pause activities. The Bekaert team helped the involved partners to design the fastest and most innovative 21,527.82 ft² pavement project the port has had since its creation.
The Bekaert team designed the sustainable construction project by reducing 45% the thickness of the slabs. This is very important as it significantly reduced the economic investment and the ecological footprint in order to meet the challenge of not stoping or pausing activities. The design and dosage created with Dramix® 4D steel fibers helped to finish the pavement in record time.
