For 40,000 sqm of residential and driveway park floors at Expo City Dubai’s The Valley project, the client sought a durable and sustainable reinforcement system that would accelerate construction. Bekaert’s Dramix® 4D steel fiber solution delivered measurable gains in cost, carbon footprint, and labor efficiency.
With 48°C ambient temperatures and 300 townhouses to build, the client needed a reinforcement solution that could enhance durability, reduce embodied carbon, speed up construction, and lower manpower demands—especially for floor-on-ground applications in residential and driveway zones.
The Bekaert Dramix® team proposed a high-performance slab-on-ground design using 4D 80/60 BGE steel f ibers tailored for residential and driveway park floor needs. The fibers were dosed directly into transit mixers, simplifying placement, improving safety, and enhancing productivity. Bekaert’s proprietary software enabled rapid engineering validation and municipal approvals. The outcome: 40% lower carbon emissions, 31% cost savings, and 976 labor hours saved—all while meeting the project’s structural and sustainability goals.
