Shimano Components (M) Sdn Bhd required a new 4,500 m² warehouse extension near their existing factory. The floor needed to meet FM2 category standards due to high racking over 10 meters tall. Bekaert was engaged to provide a solution that ensured flatness and adhered to a tight schedule.
The main challenges included the contractor’s unfamiliarity with flat floor requirements and the need to achieve the desired level of flatness within a tight timeline.
Bekaert introduced a flooring partner for the project and proposed using Dramix® 4D combi design (fibers & rebar). This solution offered the contractor and flooring specialist more flexibility in casting the floor and eliminated the cost of armored joints. Additionally, the Dramix® combi design significantly reduced the time and labor required to lay mesh/rebar.
As a result, the project was completed successfully. The owner and design engineer were pleased with the seamless floor, which eliminated long-term maintenance issues at the joints.
