In 2024, Avantika developed a warehouse with cold storage facilities for Reliance Retail, requiring a floor built for thermal stress, durability, and MHE traffic. The goal was to implement a reliable, low-maintenance solution that enabled faster construction and optimized material use without compromising performance.
Designing durable floors for warehouses and cold storage environments involves addressing exposure to low temperatures, thermal contraction, and frequent MHE traffic. The key challenge was to achieve a solution that balanced durability, joint performance, and cost-effectiveness—while also improving the overall EPD footprint, optimizing slab thickness, and minimizing construction time and labor costs.
The floor was redesigned using Dramix® 4D 80/60BGE steel fibers at 12 kg/m³ dosage, optimizing slab thickness from 175 mm to 160 mm while maintaining performance. SFRC enabled faster casting, reduced joints, and superior crack control—critical in cold storage where thermal movement is a key concern. Dramix fibers provide uniform reinforcement, eliminating rebar congestion and speeding up execution. In warehousing, this ensures high durability under repeated wheel loads with minimal maintenance. Additionally, local manufacturing of Dramix® steel f ibers in India ensured timely delivery and supported uninterrupted project progress.
