In 2022, a repeat client engaged us for the flooring of their new facility in Pune, having previously implemented Dramix® steel fiber reinforcement at their Chennai plant in 2018. Based on their positive experience, they sought a similar high-performance solution that could meet operational demands with minimal maintenance.
The key requirement was a floor with minimal joints to ensure uninterrupted movement of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and reduce long-term maintenance needs. Traditional rebar-based construction was also a constraint, as it involved time-intensive cutting, bending, and tying. The challenge lay in delivering a floor that met performance, durability, and timeline expectations across a large facility.
A jointless flooring system was adopted, eliminating groove joints and placing construction joints at 25-meter intervals aligned with the column grid. This allowed larger panels, improving durability and reducing maintenance. The 200 mm thick floor was reinforced with Dramix® 3D 80/60BG at 30 kg/m³, eliminating the need for cutting, bending, and tying of rebar— saving time and labor. The local manufacturing of Dramix® fibres in India ensured reliable, on-time supply. Additionally, the client benefited from Dramix®’s global experience across industries and f loor designs, which contributed valuable technical confidence to the project.
