Every day, containers arrive from all over the world to the port of Dos Bocas, Tabasco. Repsol receives containers of oils and additives and for this project, the aim is to storage the oils and additives in the warehouse and giving vehicle maintenance on the port´s yard.
Formerly, the port of Dos Bocas was built with traditional rod reinforcement. Tabasco is a humid and rainy location and due to the climatic conditions of the port, Moon Lagoon contractor was looking for a new application to streamline construction times and have a saw-cut floor that would withstand the high loads of container traffic. The Bekaert team suggested building the project with Dramix® 4D steel fibers, which offered Moon Lagoon weather-resistant, homogeneous and durable reinforcement for the slabs on ground.
The traditional steel reinforcement was replaced by Dramix® 4D steel fibers. In total, 29,062 ft² of saw-cut floor was built in a period of 4 days. This represented savings in construction time as well as on construction materials waste.
