The TDG Equipment Industrial Base in Haining, Zhejiang Province, China, is a state-of-the-art intelligent manufacturing facility covering 10,000 m². This advanced production base was dedicated to the high-tech manufacturing, so the owner decided to upgrade the original production workshop with saw-cut floor into a more progressive design solution, to match changing production needs.
The project’s challenge is the complex equipment foundations and trench layouts on the workshop floor. Traditional saw-cut flooring often results in numerous joints that are prone to cracking, especially at the positive corners of equipment foundations. These cracks not only compromise the floor’s aesthetics but also reduce its durability and longevity, increasing maintenance costs and operational inefficiencies.
To address these challenges, the Bekaert team introduced the Dramix® 4D SFRC flooring solution, combining steel fibers with traditional rebar to create a jointless combi slab. This innovative solution eliminates traditional saw-cuts, resulting in a joint-free floor that enhances functionality and aesthetics.
The flooring system features a 30m x 30m joint spacing distance and a steel fiber dosage of 20 kg/m³. The jointless design, along with superior crack control (width<0.15mm) and load-bearing capacity, ensures the floor can handle AGV and forklift operations without compromising structural integrity. This results in a durable, low-maintenance floor with long-term cost savings for the investor.
