The challenge

Constructing a cold storage facility to withstand extremely low temperatures is challenging, especially regarding floor durability and maintenance. Floor damage post-operation can lead to costly repairs. Thus, optimizing the initial floor design for long-term resilience and minimal maintenance was crucial. Additionally, there was a pressing need to speed up construction time and improve cost efficiency while ensuring slab durability and performance at -35°C.

The solution

A tailored flooring solution was developed to meet the distinct requirements of each area. For the bottom slab, a 5D 65/60BG f iber-only solution was used, with a thickness of 27 cm. This design ensures optimal support for heavy loads and minimizes cracking risks. In the chamber room, a jointless f loor using 4D 80/60BGE fiber was installed, with a thickness of 22 cm. This design ensures smooth forklift movement and enhances structural stability.

For the ante room, a 4D fiber with wire mesh M8-150 was used, creating a 22 cm seamless floor that ensures high durability and load-bearing capacity. Finally, for the rigid pavement, a f iber-only solution with saw cut joints was implemented, providing excellent load distribution and long-term durability.
