Executed in 2019, this project involved creating an outdoor car parking yard at Volvo’s heavy truck manufacturing plant in Hoskote, Bangalore. With imported vehicles en route, the 20,000+ sqm area needed to be ready urgently, prompting a fast-track solution using fiber-reinforced concrete for quick execution.
The major challenge was the extremely tight timeline. Imported Volvo cars were already in transit, and the client needed the parking yard ready before their arrival. Traditional reinforcement would delay completion, so a solution was required that could meet both the performance expectations and the accelerated delivery schedule.
To meet the tight deadline, the 20,000+ sqm outdoor pavement was designed using Dramix® 3D 80/60BG steel fibers with a 175 mm slab thickness. Steel fiber reinforcement proved ideal for this outdoor application, offering high durability, crack control, and joint reduction. It also eliminated the need for rebar, enabling faster placement and finishing. The entire area was completed in just one week, ready before the consignment arrived. Local manufacturing of Dramix fibers in India ensured seamless delivery, helping the team stay on schedule without compromising performance.
